Our Power to Transform

How can we contribute to a dignified future for people, especially those living in the communities surrounding our companies?

The answer to this question guides the social investments carried out by the
Colorado Group companies.

  • We inspire individuals, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to support
    community development, empowerment, and autonomy.
  • We are committed to preventing and combating child labor
  • We develop and support projects that help transform the lives of children and young people in a positive way.

We Are a Child-Friendly Company

The Child-Friendly Company Program was created in 1995 with the goal of engaging and recognizing businesses that are committed to preventing and combating child labor. Usina Colorado was one of the first organizations in Brazil to earn the ChildFriendly Company Seal, in 1998, by taking on the commitments established by the program — such as not exploiting child labor and not employing minors in nighttime, hazardous, or unhealthy activities, in compliance with the Brazilian Child and Adolescent Statute.

Oswaldo Ribeiro de Mendonça Institute

We Are the Energy That Transforms In honor of her father, a pioneer in corporate social responsibility in Brazil, Josimara Ribeiro de Mendonça founded the Oswaldo Ribeiro de Mendonça Institute (IORM) in Orlândia, São Paulo, in 2005.

The IORM’s mission is to transform childhood and adolescence into a beautiful and enriching experience, offering programs in the areas of culture, education, sports, social assistance, and income generation. Since its foundation, the Institute has served over 14,000 children, teenagers, young people, and their families in the cities of Guaíra, Ipuã, Miguelópolis, and Orlândia.

Each IORM branch is a community cultural center, open and accessible to the public. The Institute offers free dance and music classes through a partnership with Projeto Guri, as well as professional training courses in several areas of  knowledge in partnership with Senac. The centers also feature libraries equipped with computers, air-conditioned spaces with a rich collection of books, magazines, and comics, and include Braille materials and audiobooks. They are living spaces that encourage storytelling, reading campaigns, and the formation of new readers.

The institution received the 2016 Fundação Abrinq Award as one of Brazil’s most significant projects focused on early childhood development. The Integral Education Program, developed by the Casa da Criança, is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach from Italy. Today, the institution is chaired by Josimara Ribeiro de Mendonça, the Director of Social Responsibility at the Colorado Group.
